Cutter Brenton, Tyto Athene’s Chief AI Officer, brings more than 15 years of experience directing some of the Department of Defense’s most consequential data and artificial intelligence programs, with a demonstrated record of converting emerging technology into mission-ready capabilities at scale.
A seasoned leader in defense AI, Cutter has built and scaled some of the most technically complex AI portfolios in the federal market. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Algorithmic Warfare at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led a multi-hundred million dollar portfolio spanning marquee AI programs across DIU, CDAO, AFRL, INDOPACOM, JSOC, and EUCOM. His work addressed mission challenges across CJADC2, Joint Fires, Special Missions applications, cyber, autonomous systems, electronic warfare, climate, readiness, logistics, and IT modernization. Under his leadership, the portfolio achieved significant year-over-year growth while he oversaw a globally dispersed team of more than 200 cleared technologists across the full AI solutions development lifecycle.
Throughout his career, Cutter has led the development and execution of a multi-million dollar defense AI IR&D portfolio spanning computer vision, natural language processing, search and information retrieval, electronic warfare, cyber AI, and data mesh, while simultaneously scaling those capabilities into market-facing solutions. He has spearheaded AI integration across DoD functional and geographic commands, leading teams supporting dozens of marque AI programs, including efforts aligned to the Joint AI Center and broader AI research and development initiatives.
As Chief AI Officer, Cutter serves as Tyto Athene’s enterprise authority on AI, leading all aspects of artificial intelligence and innovation across the company, including the Technology Accelerator Lab for Operational Needs (TALON). He shapes how Tyto develops, integrates, and scales AI capabilities across its solutions, programs, and corporate functions, with a particular emphasis on AI across networking, expeditionary technology, cyber, and IT. His executive vision, ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity, and deep instinct for innovation as a business differentiator drive Tyto’s tech-forward go-to-market approach and the technical differentiation that sets the company apart in the market.
Cutter holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Economics from the University of Notre Dame. He earned both a Master of Science and a Master of Science in Business Analytics from Indiana University.
