The Fisher House Foundation, known for its dedication to providing free lodging to military and veteran families while their loved ones receive medical treatment, has been a key beneficiary of Tyto Athene’s philanthropic efforts. This year’s contributions mark a significant milestone in Tyto Athene’s ongoing commitment to supporting military families.

The funds raised will directly support the Fisher House Foundation’s mission to provide comfort and care to military and veteran families during their time of need. Over the past 16 years, through the Annual Fisher House Charity Golf Tournament, Tyto has raised over $580K for the foundation, which equates to over 58,000 nights for military members and their families.

HERNDON, Va.-Tyto Athene, LLC, a federal systems integrator headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, announced today that they have raised over $62,000 for the Fisher House Foundation during their 15^th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, making this the third year in a row that Tyto Athene has broken their donation record.

On October 12th, 2023, 130-plus peer and partner golfers from around the United States gathered at Stoneleigh Golf & Country Club in Round Hill, Virginia to support the event. The generous contributions of sponsors, donors, and golfers made this event a huge success. This donation will enable the Fisher House to provide 4,500 nights of lodging for military beneficiaries.

“Thank you, Tyto Athene, for 15 years of support to military and veteran families through Fisher House Foundation,” said Fisher House Foundation Chairman and CEO Ken Fisher. “The funds raised during the annual golf tournament help remove expensive burdens of lodging costs so families can focus on the care of their loved ones.”

In collaboration with the local Department of Information Management (DOIM), Tyto Athene held its first charity golf tournament in 2007 to raise funds for a local Fisher House to be built at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Since then, Tyto Athene’s annual tournament remains a symbol of continued support for the Fisher House’s mission, raising close to $500K in donations to date.

The tournament also served as a launch for Tyto Athene’s annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots toy drive. Tournament attendees brought new, unwrapped toys to kick-off the donating season. These donations put Tyto Athene on track to break its record of 1,600 donations collected in 2022.

Tyto Athene plans to host this tournament for many years to come, with the next one already scheduled for October 2024.

On September 8^th, 2022, 115 golfers from around the United States gathered at 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Virginia to support this year’s event. The charitable donations made by this year’s sponsors, golfers, and event attendees have made this year’s tournament Tyto Athene’s most successful to date.

In collaboration with the local Department of Information Management (DOIM) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Tyto Athene held their first charity golf tournament in 2007 to raise funds for a local Fisher House to be built at Fort Bragg. Since then, the annual tournament is held each year as a symbol of continued support for the Fisher House’s mission and efforts. Including this year’s donation, Tyto Athene has raised over $400,000 for the Fisher House Foundation.

The Fisher House Foundation is a private-public partnership that supports members of the Armed Forces, retirees, veterans, and their families by providing housing for military and veteran families to stay, free of charge, while their loved ones are in the hospital. These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world. Additionally, the Fisher House Foundation operates the Hero Miles program, which uses donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members, as well as the Hotels for Heroes program using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels near medical centers without charge. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses, and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
