Peter O’Donoghue, Chief Technology Officer of Tyto Athene, has been named CTO of the Year in the Private Company category at WashingtonExec’s 2026 Chief Officer Awards. The award ceremony was held on June 2, 2026 and brought together more than 500 government and industry leaders to celebrate the executives shaping the future of government contracting.

The recognition reflects the technical trajectory O’Donoghue set for Tyto Athene in 2025 with the establishment of TALON (Technology Accelerator Lab for Operational Needs) — an innovation lab built to close the gap between emerging AI technologies and real-world mission impact across the U.S. public sector. By assembling an elite engineering team and fostering a high-performance culture, O’Donoghue’s CTO organization moved TALON from concept to active mission engagement in under 12 months.

His approach rested on four deliberate pillars: elite engineering, robust infrastructure, intentional customer co-development, and a relentless bias for action. Under his leadership, TALON has fielded new AI-driven capabilities and validated mission-edge technologies in live environments alongside defense and national security customers, stablishing a new benchmark for the speed and maturity with which Tyto delivers operational solutions.
